GRAPE VARIETY: PINOT NOIR (100%)
Pinot noir is ancient French variety 2.000 years old. In Slovenia there is only 1,3% vineyards of this variety, because it is delicate and needs skilled winemaker which family Klenar is.
COLOUR: Stylish, dry red wine, characterized by a delicate, rugged red colour.
BOUQUET: The wine is very fruitful at some point, it resembles cherries, then we detect mulberry and mature tomatoes, and in the background the floral aromas of roses and violets.
TASTE: It is tasty as fresh fruit. Tannins are silky, velvety, positively affecting health.
VOYAGE: Long and gentle.
At 110 meters altitude difference and in the corner between Koper and Trieste, in the idyllic Istrian village of Plavje, family Klenar cultivates 12 hectares of vineyards. The location offers excellent weather conditions for the care of well-known varieties: malvazija, chardonnaya, blue pine, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and autochthonous refosco.
One of the most interesting logotypes of Slovenian winemakers is for sure Klen’art.
Yellow-golden frame is the sun, because without it there is no good wine. Blue colour is sea, yellow is soil, violet is the colour of autochthonous variety refosco, red colour means blood and heart of the winemaker.
